SANYO Introduces 3LCD Projector

SANYO, a manufacture of projectors, has introduced the PLC-XW57, a 3LCD projector for the education and business presentations market.

This portable presentation solution weighs 6.4 lbs., and has a small footprint of 13" W x 3.15" H x 9.3" D. In addition, company officials said, it’s outfitted with a 200-watt UHP lamp for brightness and well-balanced color reproduction.

The 3D automatic uniformity correction Control (AUCC) circuit provides uniformity, and balances uneven color and brightness gradations for natural image.

PLC-XW57 is equipped with1/4x to 16x digital zoom which makes installation fast. Officials said that the zoom specification makes it possible to project an image as large as 100 inches, diagonally, from a range of 11 to 14 feet.

Moreover, this projector provides a vertical keystone correction with a range of +/- 20 degrees, which officials said, compensates keystone (trapezoidal) picture distortion. And, the blackboard, green color, mode allows the use of a classroom blackboard to be used as a projection screen.

Automatically, the projector adjusts the colors to make images look similar to those projected on a traditional white screen in this mode. Additionally, SANYO’s countdown or immediate projection modes can be set at start-up.

Officials said that the countdown mode waits for the lamp to reach sufficient brightness before it begins projecting an image, while the immediate mode starts projecting as soon as the power is turned on, even when the optimal level of brightness has not been reached.

PLC-XW57 also features PIN code lock function that prevents unauthorized people from using the projector. The key lock function is set in the operation menu and locks operation from the controls on top of the projector and the supplied remote control.

For teachers and business executives, PLC-XW57 is a “terrific tool,” said Mark Holt (News - Alert), vice president and general manager of Presentation Technologies Division at SANYO.

Holt called this projector flexible, adding that it’s simple to operate, projecting crisp and detailed images in the boardroom or the classroom.

The projector is compatible with UXGA / WXGA / SXGA+ / XGA / SVGA / VGA / MAC analog computer inputs. Plus, two D-Sub terminals for computer input are provided and one of them can be changed to a monitor output terminal.

Officials said that digital realized interpolation technology (DRIT) is used to support input signals with resolutions from UXGA to VGA by compressing/decompressing signals.

The projector is also compatible with all incoming SD and high definition television (HDTV) (except 1080p) signals including 480i, 480p, 575i, 575p, 720p, 1035i, and 1080i.

Earlier this month, SANYO released LP-XTC50, a commercial-use projector that features a “lamp selection system.”
