InterNoded, a mobile device lifecycle management firm, this week released the latest version (4.0) of its flagship product, InterNoded (

Alert) Mobile Device Manager (IMDM). The company said this is the industry’s first on-device verification tool for deploying mobile applications, monitoring device performance, and supporting compliance.
IMDM 4.0 includes a new feature, IMDM Inspector, that accelerates mobile application deployment across the enterprise and allows companies to monitor the performance of wireless devices while heightening security and lowering operational costs.
InterNoded provides a cross-platform solution to companies to effectively enforce and demonstrate compliance with data security regulations. IMDM 4.0 supports wireless middleware

platforms including BlackBerry (

IMDM Self-Service User Portal is suitable for any carrier, and it offers a number of provisions for end-users with different devices. Some of these include activation and resetting of passwords, upgrades, re-activation, and wiping of wireless devices and applications without help desk intervention.
IMDM 4.0 also offers a rules-based framework to maintain information technology (IT) control and reduce human errors. By integrating with the corporate directory, IMDM 4.0 enables automatic security policy and application distribution on each device.
The new IMDM Inspector is a lightweight, client-side application. It has the ability to report device status to the IMDM server, implementing applications and security policies for each device and enforcing compliance with policies. The IMDM inspects each device consistently and reduces strain in the help desk.
Key features of IMDM include support for any enterprise smartphone, a single console for managing the entire lifecycle, self-service portal for device management, automated policy and application management, inspector with on-device verification, and automated system optimization.
“As mobile workforces grow, increasing amounts of sensitive enterprise owned data are deployed to mobile devices,” said Michael King, research director at Gartner (

IMDM Inspector is ahead of its predecessors in its ability to verify that security measures are installed, operational, and configured correctly. The global updates execute automatically in response to changes in policy definitions or software deployment rules.
“Version 4.0 is a robust enterprise solution. It can manage complex issues, such as load balancing Blackberry Enterprise Servers from Research in Motion (

With the efficiency and optimization enhancements of IMDM 4.0, we should see those ROI numbers continue to climb.”
IMDM is compatible with existing corporate security policy infrastructures. It applies these policies across all smartphones consistently and maintains it throughout the lifetime of devices, even through decommissioning.
IMDM provides detail audit trails, including configuration changes, during each device’s lifecycle. This enables the application to restore the complete history of each device, PIN, and other user details if required. This is possible because IMDM has control over all devices and applications associated with it and can access the inventory of smartphones that carry the regulated data.
“Including devices such as BlackBerry and Windows Mobile in your compliance strategy right from the start is far less expensive than dealing with the fallout from a major security breach,” said Chas Douglis, chief financial officer, InterNoded.
