Stratecast, InnoPath to Review Impact of Mobile Device Management

Stratecast and InnoPath reportedly have jointly developed a tool for assessing the financial impact of mobile device management on network operations.

According to Stratecast, using MDM within mobile operator’s customer care organizations will have a major impact on global operational and support costs to the tune of $3 billion in 2009 to more than $23 billion by 2013. Stratecast provides critical, objective and accurate strategic insight on the global communications industry.

The product line of Stratecast includes subscription-based recurring analysis programs that are focused on Business Communication Services, Consumer Communication Services, Communication Infrastructure and Convergence (News - Alert), OSS and BSS Global Competitive Strategies.

According to Nancee Ruzicka, member of OSS/BSS Global Competitive Strategies group, “The advanced series customers demand from their cell phones are creating an unprecedented burden on the mobile operator. Increasingly complex requirements for device configurations, software updates and convoluted trouble shooting procedures are driving up support costs. These are costs which cannot be contained without streamlining traditional methods of customer support for mobile devices.”

By using MDM, customer care representatives will be able to view a customer’s handset configuration and understand what is missing, incorrect or out-of-date. After identification of the problem, a solution can be applied Over the Air which does not require any intervention from the customer. This helps to streamline the customer support process which also results in cost savings. According to Stratecast and InnoPath, these savings when applied to a North American operator, will result in a total savings of $2 billion dollars over a period of five years.

The ROI model has more than 25 independent variables. It leverages both Stratecast’s empirical data and the practical experience of InnoPath. Mobile Device Management, dealt by InnoPath Software (News - Alert), is a technology that enables wireless operators to better and more cost effectively manage and deliver revenue generating services for consumers and enterprises.

The unique solution from InnoPath allows the operator to adapt the basic MDM client on the subscriber’s handset to their specific customer care requirements, without restriction any based on network technology. Since customer care is strategic to wireless operators, operators will turn to vendors with proven operational expertise, technical leadership and financial stability tin order to help contain the escalating costs.
